David is the State Representative for Grand Rapids and now running for State Senate in the 30th District. The son of a minister and teacher, David was born in Grand Rapids and went to school here. David and his wife Melissa raised their children in West Michigan and are invested in the community by opening several small businesses, including Four Friends Coffee House, the Wealthy and Hall Street Bakeries, and Long Road Distillers. David served as an Assistant Kent County Prosecutor, a City Commissioner, and a Grand Rapids Public School Board member. As your voice in the State Legislature, David is working for reformative policy that helps all citizens and strengthens our communities.
Criminal justice reform
David's number one priority is helping our community thrive. David is leading on change in Lansing, whether it's reforming our criminal justice system, promoting small business development, holding politicians accountable and improving government transparency, and promoting renewable energy and protecting our water.
