The David LaGrand for State House campaign is looking for interns for our Grand Rapids campaign office. Interns will work inside a professionally run, fast paced, fun, and state-wide targeted campaign. Interns will gain valuable experience and make great connections as they work closely with top Democratic staffers at the campaign and the House Democratic Caucus to implement our winning campaign strategy.
Interns are an integral part of the campaign team. Interns will be trained, given important responsibilities and held accountable for reaching goals. Each intern will be expected to work as part of a team dedicated to building a successful grassroots movement that will lead us to victory in November. In addition to working on voter contact efforts – door-to-door canvassing, visibility at community events, and/or phone banking – interns will have specific responsibilities in one of the following areas: * Field: Assisting the Field Director, absentee voter contact, yard sign planting, etc. * Regional Field: Grow and manage relationships with supporters in a specific area. * Fundraising: Assisting the Finance Director, donor research, database management, and event planning. * Communications: Website and new media organization, media tracking, and writing tasks. * Office Activities: scheduling, mailings, research, and various project management jobs.
Applicants should have a dynamic personality, excellent written and oral communication skills, solid organizational abilities and a strong work ethic. Ideal candidates will have experience with grassroots organizing and political campaigns, but such experience is not required. Applicants should be self-motivated and have a strong interest in political campaigns and a commitment to progressive values. Applicants should be willing to work at least eight hours per week, although our schedule is flexible.
